Would it be possible to add an extension to emulate keyboard shortcuts?

I was thinking it could be very handy to have a customizable extension that could emulate a keyboard shortcut of your choice with a click rather than pressing down on several keys at the same time. And ideally, we could add several, each with its own icon (like with the brackets extension, where each bracket type gets its own icon).

Hi, you can actually make an extension to press any keyboard shortcut.
