Add URL to GoodLinks?

Is there an extension to add an URL to GoodLinks?

No but thanks for the suggestion! A couple of other people have asked for this too.

Any updates on this? I’d love to be able to use PopClip to send a URL to GoodLinks.

The current Goodlinks extension uses the app’s API and so, one has to copy the API key and add it to PopClip. The API key can also change over time.

Is it possible to modify the extension so that it uses AppleScript with no need for the API? The AppleScript below should add a new link to Good links from the clipboard. This can be adapted to PopClip:

tell application "GoodLinks"

    activate

make new link with data the clipboard

end tell

With this kind of thing, I feel kind of trapped because I imagine there are plenty of people using the existing one who like it the way it is. If I were to change the existing extension to work this way, I would surely have people posting complaints that they want to use the API key instead :grimacing:.. Not sure of the best way forward. There’s also a URL scheme as well, I think, so that’s three ways it can work…

However, you can make your own version of a GoodLinks extension with your AppleScript like this:

-- #popclip
-- name: GoodLinks
-- requirements: [isurl]
-- before: copy
tell application "GoodLinks"
    activate
make new link with data the clipboard
end tell

(The above block is an extension snippet — select it then click “Install Extension” in PopClip.)
