I’m experiencing an unusual behavior in PopClip. When I double-click on a word, the action bar appears immediately, which works perfectly. However, when I double-click on an empty space to bring up the options bar for pasting (or performing other actions), I notice a delay of a few seconds before it shows up.
This behavior continually happens. I’d like to know if there’s anything I can do to fix this delay or if it’s a known issue with the app.
I’m using PopClip on Mac 14.2 (23C64) / Mac Mini M2 Pro / 16 GB RAM with the latest version available (2025.9.2).
Has anyone else experienced something similar? I’d appreciate any suggestions or solutions.
Hi, let’s try to investigate the problem together.
Does this long delay happen in a particular app (or particular part of an app)?
If you could give me detailed instructions as to what app and where to click in that app so I can reproduce the problem, that would be really helpful
Also, the intended way of making PopClip appear in an empty space for pasting is to hold down the mouse button for half a second. Do you also experience a delay of several seconds with that method?
Hi, thank you very much for responding to my comment and so quickly.
I hadn’t used the option of holding down the button until the menu appeared. It’s much faster than double-clicking.
I mainly work with WordPress, which is where I copy and paste text the most and where I notice that delay. It’s also true that when you asked me which programs it happened in, I ran several tests and, for example, in Gmail it shows up quickly. So I suspect it’s not a PopClip issue, but rather the fields I use in WordPress, and I just generalized it, sorry!
I’ve saved a lot of time with what you mentioned about holding down the button, and since outside of WP I haven’t noticed that delay, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Congratulations on the program and on all the improvements you keep adding.
Thank you.
