Version 1.0 was released on the Mac App Store on July 18, 2011. Here’s the original promotional demo video:
As you can see, v1.0 had exactly three features: Cut, Copy, Paste … and nothing else!
The Search, Open Link, Spelling and Dictionary actions would not be added until 4 months later. Extension support was added in May 2012 and the first extension was Google Translate. We’ve come a long way since!
I want to thank every single customer who has ever used PopClip, everyone who has ever sent in a support email or tweeted or posted on the forum, made an extension or snippet, or told a friend about PopClip (or made a blog post about it or even a YouTube video!)
The next release of PopClip, version 2026.7, will come out next week.
PopClip is one of those tools[1] that I immediately miss when it’s not installed on another Mac. Thank you for the ongoing updates and improvements over the years.

I can only agree with Kolkrabe! PopClip is one of the first tools I install, and it’s the one I miss most painfully on Windows. And this anniversary also reminds me how long I’ve already had a Mac.

The recent nested menus have made PopClip so much easier to use, when the menu pops up and one needs to find the action required. It makes me like PopClip much more - thank you Nick!
