How to hide PopClip without hiding a website pop over

Hi @nick, is there a way to just hide PopClip? For example, when I select some text anywhere, e.g., on this PopClip forum, the website shows a hover with Quote, Share other options. Since I have popClip installed, the PopClip hover bar also shows up. In some cases I just want to hide the PopClip and not the website hover bar. Pressing escape hides both PopClip and the website hover bar. Any way to just hide PopClip?

If you hold ⌘ while making the mouse selection, it will suppress PopClip.

After it has popped up, pressing any key on the keyboard (except a modifier key) will dismiss it.

It will also dismiss if you scroll the wheel a bit, or move the mouse more than 40 pixels away from the PopClip bar.

You could also set PopClip to appear below the mouse so it doesn’t overlap bars which appear above the text.

Came back here to say thank you for implementing such a subtle and user friendly feature. Makes my nerdy brain so happy every time I use it

woo-hoo - didn’t know that. Thanks!

That’s really kind of you to say. I try to get the small details right … be there when needed but get OUT of the way when not needed!!

Coming in a little late, but I’ve assigned a Keyboard Shortcut to PopClip, so if I’ve turned it off (e.g. when I’m doing a task that involves a lot of text selection but no need for PopClip), I can still summon it with the shortcut. The shortcut also helps if PopClip disappears (from me moving the mouse, etc.) but I still want to do something with it.
