No More Glossy!

I knew this day was coming… and yet, I still mourn the loss of my beloved ‘old school glossy theme’ with the release of PopClip Build 5070.

@nick it’s not too late to bring it back, for old times’ sake

Start crying andy samberg snl whats wrong with tanya lifetime game show

Aha! Yes the passing of an era. I’m so sorry! The old code needed to be update, not just for this but to support new things coming. Keeping “classic mode” would require special cases everywhere, I just can’t!

Let the record show: I may be accepting of this, I don’t necessarily like this.

This was the glossy look (video from 2011 for PopClip 1.0) …

It was retired 11 years ago in 2014 (:face_with_tongue:) in favour of the flat look, but was still available as a hidden setting until now.

Ah, I am late to the party then, I only started using PopClip ~5 years ago

You know, Nick… they brought back the glossy traffic lights in macOS 27 Golden Gate… Have you perhaps considered bringing back the glossy look for me a Liquid Glass makeover for PopClip? :innocent:

Actually, I did a Liquid Glass experimental makeover. It never made it into the final product, but it was interesting. Occasionally it looked amazing, but then on some backgrounds it looked terrible. Might revisit it again for 27, who knows…

What if it were more of that ‘VisionOS smoky glass color’ as a third option?
