PopClip bar appearing when clicking Chrome's Bookmarks Bar

I have been using PopClip for many years and it has always worked perfectly. Thank you for your great work.

Recently, I encountered an issue with the latest version of PopClip:

  • System: macOS 13.7.3

  • Chrome Version: 133.0.6943.54

Every time I open Chrome for the first time or open a new blank tab, clicking on a bookmark in the bookmarks bar will 100% trigger PopClip. However, after that, when I click on any bookmark link in an already opened page, PopClip does not get triggered and everything works normally.

I have tried reverting to version 2024.5.2 (4615), and the issue does not occur with that version.

Trying to reproduce.

I’m currently on Chrome 132.0.6834.160.
Can’t reproduce yet but only tried with this Chrome and macOS 15.2.

Is Chrome 133 a preview version?

I have tried to update to PopClip version 2024.12 to reproduce this issue.

  1. Chrome is version 133.0.6943.54 (official release), and all extensions are disabled.
  2. I have closed some apps that might cause conflicts or interference, such as:
  • BetterTouchTool

  • Input Source Pro

  • Dropover
    and so on.

This issue is not urgent. I’m using PopClip 2024.5.2 (4615), and it’s working perfectly fine. Thanks for your attention!

I have now received the Chrome 133 update and I can confirm I am now seeing the same issue, which I will investigate and keep you posted.

@DawnLiExplorer I was able to isolate the problem and I’ve released a new beta version of PopClip with what I believe is a fix for this. You can download Build 4693 from https://www.popclip.app/beta. If you get a chance to try it out, please let me know if it solves the problem for you.
