I am writing to you as a long-time user of PopClip. It is truly an essential tool in my daily workflow, but I’ve noticed it has been quite a while since the last major update. I’m reaching out because I would love to see the app continue to evolve and stay modern.
Specifically, I have a few suggestions that I believe would make PopClip even better:
- Modernized UI: I would love to see the interface updated to support Apple’s latest “Liquid Glass” design language, perhaps with adjustable background opacity to help it blend more seamlessly with modern macOS.
- Customizable Icons: It would be great if users could select or customize the action icons to better suit their personal aesthetic.
- New Activation Method: One feature I find myself wishing for is the ability to activate PopClip via a keyboard shortcut—specifically, by double-clicking the left Command key.
PopClip is a fantastic product, and I really hope you consider breathing some new life into it with these modern touches.
Thank you for all your hard work on this app!
Thanks for your kind reply.
- Liquid Glass Design:
I don’t know code, but I use AI to write something that could be interesting for you. I don’t know whether this is achievable or not(please kindly check my email). Ever since macOS 27, liquid glass design is coming to the next level. It is so beautiful. I really hope PopClip can adopt a fully liquid glass design.
- Customizable Icons: Great to know it’s coming in the next version.
- New Activation Method: I have used a lot of Raycast shortcuts. PopClip is an amazing product. I just want to make the shortcut the easiest way, so I would like to get the activation shortcut as double-click left Command.
By the way, when can we expect the next update?
The central UI concern for the PopClip bar is readability/distinguishability on every possible background, even if this background changes within a few inches on the screen. A year after the introduction of Liquid Glass, this is something even Apple struggles with, still introducing all sort of refinements and user preferences to tune down the effects. PopClip should sit this out, until Liquid Glass reaches a mature state on macOS.
(PS: Interface design is hard)
