Coming soon…
Took me a while to figure out how to make subfolders work in an “it still feels like PopClip” way but I think I’ve done it.
Looks good (although I likely keep the depth limited). Can an icon be used as a folder name?
Indeed
… I was just showing off with the 5 deep ![]()
Initially, I didn’t allow subfolders-in-subfolders but then I thought why not, leave it for the user to decide. (It’s capped at a max depth of 5 though).
You can set a custom icon on a folder. And there are display settings (for folders and actions alike)![]()
Everything subject to change … but shaping up to be like this.
There’s lots more in the new update I haven’t shown you yet but I just wanted to tease something ![]()
I will put out a beta when the time is right, but there’s a bit of work to do still.
Sounds good. In the PopClip bar: Is the vertical alignment of folders (with the arrow below) final?
Nothing is final yet but I’m fairly settled on this. Happy to listen to suggestions, but you know I’m an autocrat ![]()
Originally I tried an in-place replacement but it was a poor experience.
I guess there was a misunderstanding: What I meant is the vertical offset between regular icons and the folder name.
Ah I see – yes, I think so but I might experiment some more. You do get used to it!
Yes it really looks good. What about moving with keyboard? I often trigger PopClip using shortcut and in that case moving by using arrows. It could be very appreciated and ideal would be fast selection pressing letters to limit view or to fast positioning on next entry.
Per: “giv’em an inch…” How about multiple bars or a grid or a radial menu???
Maybe in another 15 years ![]()
Couldn’t the upcoming folder feature be used for this? Using a different keyboard shortcut, the PopClip bar is triggered but with the row of a specific folder already opened, first item selected (for keyboard navigation).
But AI is compressing years into weeks. Come on, live a little ![]()
There are many things that could be done, but only some that should be done.
Something i didn’t know i needed!
However does it have to say “folder”? Can it be an SF Symbol of a folder or something?
The default icon is the SF Symbol for a folder. You can change the icon, and the name. Option for show as icon or text.
Current iteration:

Nick, hear me out… 3D PopClip! Explore the subfolders… BUT IN 3D!

I’m an aficionado of KISS.
I’m ready… My Wallet is ready… Are you ready?
Beta done. Tested as well as I can, and ready for the world … but it’s going to take me some more hours to write the release notes. It’s a big one!
